FEEDING YOU LIKE FAMILY FOR OVER 50 YEARS
In the late 1950’s, while everyone else was rockin’ and rollin’, Jakov P. Dulcich and his wife Antoinette were rolling up their sleeves, ready to work hard in America. After emigrating from Croatia to Delano, CA in 1960, Jakov worked for his uncle, Prosper Dulcich, and in 1975, after years of hard work and saving their pennies, Jakov and Antoinette purchased their first piece of land to farm themselves. In 1985, as the expansion continued, Jakov broke off by himself and began devoting his full energy, time and expertise to farming, marketing and promoting his own company. For a time, the fruit was marketed under different labels throughout California, but as the old saying goes, Jakov soon learned that if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. With this realization in mind and newfound determination, the Dulcich family formed Sunlight International Sales Inc., and has personally and proudly shipped their premium grapes worldwide ever since.
Just as when Jakov (who you can still find in the fields today!) and Antoinette came to the Central Valley with dreams of growing the very best produce and marketing it to the world, today our commitment to this mission remains intact. Still a family owned and operated business, as seen by Jakov’s oldest son Peter managing the farm operations and his youngest son Nick leading the sales arm of the business, all are heavily committed to maintaining the standard of excellence that has made Dulcich the preferred grapes of discriminating buyers everywhere.
“It seems like it was just yesterday, but I’m exceedingly proud of the business my family and I have built over the last half century,” says Jakov Dulcich, who can still be found overseeing the daily operations. “Delivering the finest table grapes in the world is a responsibility we have always taken to heart, and it’s our goal to continue this tradition of quality for the next 50 years.”
